2008 will be another rough year for real estate

With a mortgage credit crunch threatening recovery, will 2008 be the year when large number of California real estate agents are temporarily sidelined by low sales or declare "game over" and leave the profession altogether? Will new ways of using technology to conduct business and connect with clients continue to flourish as agents tighten their belts? California Real Estate magazine asked a handful of industry leaders for their insight into the market, advances in tehcnology, and other developments on the horizon for 2008.
"...By early 2008, Mike Lyon will christen a new video studio and launch a series of short training modules available to Lyon offices via podcast. "These will be something the office manager can throw up on the screen and explain what it means in Rocklin or other local markets," said Lyon. He's also hired a team of top IT people to help brokers and agents implement and troubleshoot new technologies and processes.
Lyon also is bullish on technology tools that provide third-party validation of market conditions and agent performance. Lyon agents often supplement their own market data with reports from Trendgraphix Inc. (www.trendgraphix.com) to build credibility with buyers and sellers..."
